Lviv plans to obtain a land plot from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the construction of a cable car

Кві 28, 2023

The Lviv City Council has signed a memorandum with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine regarding the transfer of a land plot to the city for the construction of a cable car to the High Castle. This was announced by the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, during the session on April 27, reported by “Espresso.Zahid”.

According to the mayor, it is impossible to implement the project within the existing land owned by the city. It is necessary to have a large station from where the cable car can start.

“We have agreed on the territory behind the fence, which the Ministry of Internal Affairs is ready to give us. This is the territory that currently belongs to the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. In return, we are helping them with one of the schools and land for the construction of another school,” said Andriy Sadovyi.

Currently, the city council is waiting for an official letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They plan to start the competition this year.

As a reminder, the future cable car will have three stations. The route of the cable car will run from the northern terraces of the “Na Valakh” park to the observation platforms of the High Castle. The lower station will have ticket offices, public restrooms, and platforms for people with disabilities. Part of the premises is proposed to be located in the underground space.

The second station of the cable car is planned near the middle terrace (observation platform) of the High Castle. They plan to arrange a large-scale model of medieval Lviv here.

The third station of the cable car will be located under the mound (artificial hill) built on the top of the Castle Hill, from where people will be able to climb up on their own.

The entire cable car will have 17 cabins, each for 8 people. Thanks to the cable car, the city plans to attract more than 400 million hryvnias of investment. The launch of the cable car was previously planned for 2024.
